Iran And Iraq War Led By Saddam Lasted 8 Years

The war between the Iraq and Iran was a war that was led by Saddam from Iraq and the Iranian revolutionary. This is one of the longest wars that Iraq had fought, which lasted for eight years. The war started in the year 1980 and ended in the year of 1988, after eight years after it started. This war is named as the Iraq gulf war till the war between Iraq and Kuwait started in the year 1990. There are a number of wars that Iraq has witnessed. And the Gulf war between Iraq and Iran is amongst the longest lasting war between Iraq and any other country.

It has been researched and found that although the thought of the disrupt of the war between these two nations originated in the late nineteenth century, there have been reports of hostility between these two nations from a long time. Earlier there have been small wars that were not handled on a large scale however; they are an important evidence of the bad relationship between these two countries.

These small wars that have their roots in the eighteenth centuries also show their presence in the massive gulf war between the Iraqi troops and the Iranian forces. These two countries have never been in peace with each other and there have been constant conflicts between these two nations for a long time. Even though the conflicts were small, the importance of these small conflicts cannot be ignored. These small conflicts have only served to be the platform for the massive and long time war between Iraq and Iran.

This war marked its start with the Iraq's invasion of Iran. The main cause of the war was the disputes that had creped up in the borders of Iran and Iraq. The revolutionaries demanded the out throw of the leader of Iraq. The invasion that Iraq made in Iran was without any formal warnings but it is to be noted that Iran's troops defended well and the Iraqi troops were soon thrown out of Iran. Although a number of orders were issued by the United State of America to the Iraqi officials to withdraw and culminates the war, it was only in the year 1880 that the Iraqi troops finally receded. Moreover, it was recently in the year two thousand and three and the prisoners of the war were resent to their native land. This war also saw the use of the chemical weapons on a large scale from the Iraqi side.

The Iran and Iraq war is also popularly known as the Persian Gulf War as there were major activities of war that could be seen in the region of Persia. Later another war that lasted for two year and which started in the year nineteen ninety was termed as the Persian Gulf War II. Recently the Iraq faced invasions from the US troops and the downfall of the rule of Saddam Hussein was seen. Hence, one can see that Iraq is rightly called the land of wars.
