Cons Of Iraq War

The war in Iraq has been in the news for almost a decade. It all began with Desert Storm and later was enlarged to include a coalition of many countries to help overthrow the government of Iraq, to find weapons of mass destruction and to destroy a safe harbor for future terrorist activity.

The reasoning for the war in Iraq was based on what we believed was sound information gathered by numerous intelligence sources. Whether or not you believe that there were weapons of mass destruction is irrelevant because we are there and there to stay.

The people of Iraq deserve to have an opportunity to establish a good working government that will rule then effectively and that will work with other countries to develop good relations and trade agreements. A stable government in Iraq will provide the Middle East with a base from which other countries can improve their own dealings with the rest of world.

The war in Iraq has happened and there is no going back to the way it was before. We can not walk away from these people and leave them with nothing. It is easy to sit back in your living room chair and talk about why we should leave, but it is more important to understand why we should stay.

There is a saying that "those who tend to forget the past are doomed to repeat it". That is what will happen to people around the world if they forget about the terrorist attacks that have been focused at western nations.

It is easy to think that the problems of the Middle East and those in Iraq will affect us. Unfortunately, that is not true. It is a small world and it is getting smaller every day. The training of future al-Qaeda fighters, the call for a Jihad against westerns, and the goal that true Muslims must kill nonbelievers will not go away just because you choose to ignore it.

The war in Iraq is just one battlefield out of literally hundreds. Taking a stand against an adversary is never easy. You will not be able to get everyone to truly understand the reasoning for this and in many instances you will be standing alone waving the American flag.

Thinking about the war in Iraq, you should take the time to really learn more about the country and its people. The reports on the news are not everything you need to know. There are many different people trying very hard to make this work. It is not just our government that wants to help the people. The actual soldiers in the field are there because they volunteered-they joined the National Guard, the Army, Marine Corps, Air Force when there was no imposed draft.

These young adults truly understand the meaning of freedom and why it is so important. They are over there fighting for our right to be free and to do whatever we want when we want it. How can we say that their battle has been for nothing? If you know someone who is serving there, you might be amazed at their statements about what is happening. Yes, it is a war zone and it is hard, but the soldiers can see improvements being made slowly every day.
