Iraq War Is In The News Every Single Day
The war in Iraq is in the news every single day. You can not avoid listening to news reports, read a newspaper or a magazine or to hear other people's conversations over this highly debated topic. The war in Iraq is being fought today on several fronts. Only one of which is actually in Iraq. The other wars are being debated by governments around the world and by average citizens. It is difficult to say what the real facts are behind the invasion of Iraq, the very short war, and the last 3 plus years of our troops being in this war torn area. The fact remains that thousands of our young people are there fighting to help the people of Iraq build a new government and to rebuild their own country.
The war in Iraq will not end in the near future and may never end for the people of Iraq. Some people debate that the different religious and sectarian sects have been fighting for thousands of years and they will continue to fight each other after we are gone. One of the best statements I have ever seen summed up the war in a few short words. "Me against my brother, My brother and me against our cousin, My brother, cousin and me against the town leaders, My brother, cousin, town leaders and me against our neighbors, My brother, cousin, town leaders, our neighbors and me against all invaders." Does this sound familiar? This statement does not just apply to people in Iraq, it applies to everyone everywhere! Just think when it came to how Americans bonded together after the attacks of September 11. We were a nation full of people who were plodding along only concerned with our own personal happiness-then our world fell apart! And, what did we do? We put aside our differences (for a short period of time) and rallied behind our leaders. As a nation we bonded together with a common cause behind us, the first foreign unprovoked attack on our country in almost 60 years. The war in Iraq is here and it not going away anytime soon. If you listen to the President, he tells us that we can not abandon the people of Iraq in the middle of their transition to a new government. Think back to your own history lessons about the beginnings of our own government. The process did not go smoothly and it took many years before we had a government that all of the 13 states would agree to accept. We have been fighting the war in Iraq for a little over 3 years and progress is being made in spite of the ongoing attacks from small groups of terrorists who want to ensure that the people remain living in constant fear. |
